GUEST POST-EMERALD

This is a poem my daughter wrote and as I am having a blogging blank.....today(my mind is waterlogged after the last couple of days. LOL) she wanted to post her poem.

I hope you all like it and will leave her a comment.....Thank you!!

This poem I wrote, and hopefully it will give people the inspiration to live life to the fullest.

MY POEM

"Something to read everyday
Something to make you smile
Something to say when you’re sad
Or just every once in a while

Maybe it’s to lift your spirits
Or maybe it’s for when you cry
You’ll always remember these lyrics
This poem you’ll remember til you die

In this life you’ll have many moments
Times you’ll never forget
Places you’ll see and go
And sometimes you’ll have regrets.

They’ll be things you want to change
Things you’ll want to take back
But that’s how your life was suppose to be
And that’s a matter of fact

One day you’ll remember the things you’ve done
And the adventures that you’ve had
Always remember the good times
Smile and don’t get mad."

FLOOD PICTURES

We live in the major catchment area for Somerset Dam.
One of the dams that supplies South -East Queensland with water.
Somerset & Wivenhoe Dams were built to stop Brisbane's major flooding & of course for water
storage/usage. Brisbane of course can still flood but from local water run off.

The water from Somerset is let down into Wivenhoe, that then supplies

Brisbane with it's water.

"Stanley River"

Stanley River flows into Somerset.

Wouldn't you hate to be "Ted" at the moment,

with all his livelihood under water

This is "Teds house usually surrounded by a sea of green turf,

now surrounded by a sea of water.

RAINING!!

Rain, Rain go away come again another day!!

Our district is in flood at the moment. The rain has been unrelenting since yesterday morning. It is so so wet.

The children have had to come home from school as they have just closed all the schools in the area.

This morning when I awoke I found the Guinea Pig cage had become a dam during the night, the cage was actually holding the water in. Poor pigs were scurrying around trying to find a dry spot.

They were all wet & scruffy but looked incredible cute we made them some hot porridge which they devoured quickly & it soon warmed them up. Then we moved their cage and gave them dry bedding.

Instead of continuing on with my Autumn cleaning today I have declared, what we call in our house "Doona Day". Quilts & rugs on the lounge, T.V or a loved book or just having a good chat. No housework/homework allowed but something yummy to eat and we will have a great day together.

Hope you have a great day too.

SHIPS ARE FEMALES-ALWAYS

Just a little light hearted read for you!!

WHY IS A SHIP CALLED A SHE?

A ship is called a 'she' because there is always a great deal of bustle around her;

there is usually a gang of men about,

she has a waist and stays;

it takes a lot of paint to keep her good looking;

it is not the initial expense that breaks you, it is the upkeep;

she can be all decked out;

it takes an experienced man to handle her correctly;

and without a man at the helm, she is absolutely un-controllable.

She shows her topsides, hides her bottom and,

when coming into port, always heads for the buoys.

AUTUMN CLEANING

I have been Sorting, De cluttering, Simplifying and just basically starting my good old clean up.

Forget Spring Cleaning, Autumn is the season that works for me.

Spring is such a busy time.

Busy working (Time for all the babies (Foals) to be born, time to re bred all the mares for next springs arrivals, busy in the garden-getting ready to plant spring veggies before the days get to hot.

Spring for me is a time to shake free the confines of the indoor winter hibernation, the days lengthen and we enjoy many a long day at the beach followed by picnics & BBQ's that continue well into the night.

So that is why I Autumn clean.
Autumn is a time to prepare my house for winter. A time to wash all the Rugs, Quilts, Pillows & Cushions while there is still enough warmth in the air to line dry my washing. It is Essential for me to smell the sunlight in my fresh clean washing.(Heaven)

A time to Sort, Rotate & Replenish my stockpile.

A kinda primitive form of hunting & gathering I think.
Almost like a bear or akin to a squirrel gathering food to store for the winter.

Fun sorting through all our old Board games, Books & DVDs ready for family nights cuddled up warm together with an essential comfort food. Warm Creamy rice with a good dollop of fresh cream comes to mind.

So this is what I will be doing this weekend and over the following weeks to come. I am a little late to start this year. What with all the dramas that have come of late.
A ritual I usually start sometime after Anzac Day(25April) as usually this is when the weather starts to cool.

Alas life is a journey and preparing my house for the coming cooler months gives me much pleasure. A feeling that I am lucky to be able to provide a warm, secure loving home surrounded by our treasures & mementos that help shape who we are and what we like as a family. Oh and plenty of warm creamy rice too!!

Have a GREAT Weekend.

I couldn't possibly disturb these two's beauty sleep to simply

make the bed, Could I??

Well until they have now decided to hop on it AFTER I make it.

I always knew cats were fussy but.......

Darn that has wrecked my best excuse yet.

Have a lovely evening
