On this Anzac Day....

May we never forget the ultimate sacrifice
that fell upon our diggers from the past

and bless our present & future diggers

may they all come home to the safety of our
beautiful shores.

Lest we Forget....

I wanted to share with you this poignant epitaph by Ataturk in commemoration of Anzac soldiers at Ari Burnu, Gallipoli:

Those heroes who shed their blood and lost their lives! You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours. You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.
Atatürk, 1934

Thank you Marco Pasha, I remember hearing this a few years ago but I forgot about it, now I have it down in writing from YOU! Thanks

Amen to that, Caroline. It's nice to see Anzac Day becoming more popular with each passing year - our youth are taking an interest in it and the important work that our armed forces do.
