GRANNY'S EGG CUP

This cute little egg cup was my Granny's she got it for her Birthday in 1928

So I thought being Easter it would be a good time to share it with you all

So now the 80 or so year old egg cup has come to live at our place.

As I am the only Granddaughter, Granny has now entrusted this to me.

It came with strict directions (of course) to use it.

Don't just put it in a cupboard!!

Well now each of Granny's Great grandchildren have eaten a boiled egg & soldiers out of it,
but never the less after that it was banished to the cupboard.

You see the last time soldier boy used it I dropped it when washing it up.

Not a chip nor crack but I tell you everything moved in slow motion as it fell.

I have the fondest memories going back to about when I was four of going to Granny's and having a boiled egg for breakfast in this egg cup.

Of course it became a little ritual of that is what I would have for breakfast at her house and her telling me the little story of how she got it.

In the 1920's with War & the Great Depression it was not common for children to receive presents for their Birthdays other than a little clutch of lollies.

She must of thought she was the luckiest girl in the world at that time to receive it

Just like I feel now she has passed it on to me.

Love you Gran

CAROLINE xoxo

How wonderful that you have something from your grandmother that you can cherish the way you do.

I have a couple things from my grandmothers and they are so special to me. Thanks for sharing.

Love the story...love the blog and especially the picture on your blog header....Hope you will stop by my blog. I am a new blogger. This is my second month in the world of BLOG. I am great give away this month. This drawing will be the last day of April.
Every comment you leave throughout the month will enter your name in the drawing. This NEW blogger was so touched by all the comments I got on the Blog Party Give Away,(over 300) that I decided to make this a monthly GIFT...
Also, if you mention blog telling about the monthly giveaway, you will have your name entered 10 extra times...Just be sure and let me know that you did. How is that for an incentive?
I was so blown away by all the responses that I wanted to email each person personally... I did love reading all of them..I am continuing to introduce my family members. In May, there will be some fun blogs coming from Disney World with the grandkids. I hope to blog every night, in case you like a good trip report. And there will also be a great Disney giveaway.
I am so thankful for all my new friends.

Don't know how I missed this post, but glad I found it. It's a keeper!Funny how a little thing like that can mean so much to us. I have my Dad's baby bowl & I cherish it. (Currently it is in a box waiting to be unpacked in Idaho some day.)He was born in 1922 so the bowl has that same aged look about it.
