We had about 2 1/2 inches of rain on Wednesday and Thursday so with this garden bed sitting empty and the place having had a good soaking I decided to plant some more veggie seedlings.
In this bed I put a mixture of beans, assorted lettuces and Asian greens, a few squash and of course and as always Marigolds.
Today I took Emerald to the USC (University of the Sunshine Coast) Open Day. They ran a really good day. Plenty of demonstrations, exhibits and information lectures on anything & everything they offer. We now feel a lot more prepared for next year now.
A busy but productive weekend here. What did you get up to??

That's great you got your garden bed going, and the trip to the Uni sounds very reassuring.
A very satisfying weekend for your family!
Nice raised bed for your seedlings. SOmeday I hope to have a little raised bed too.
Here's what I did: I spent about 4 hours piddeling around on the computer down at the visitor's center this morning. My soninlaw and daughter decided they wanted to change their plane rez from Mon to Wed, so I was trying to get that done and find the times they were comfy with. Then I came home and mowed our few little patches of grass with my reel mower. Watered, pulled weeds, planted more rhubarb, went to MooseValley Farms & gave the gal all my empty flower/plant pots for her to reuse, took the trash to the dump, cleaned out my refrigerator, did all my ironing, changed the curtains over my kitchen sink. Phew! I was busy today too!! Have a great week Caroline!
Thanks Jan, the trip to the uni was VERY reassuring to us.
Cassie this particular raised bed was actually my childrens old sandpit when they were little although I do have others like this that were purpose built. Phew I got tired just reading what you did. I need someone to come & clean out my fridge and do all my ironing atm.
The garden bed is looking good Caroline, you reminded me that I had better get a move on with my gardening....theres always something to do.

Hi Tania,
Yes there is always something to do & plant in the garden isn't there. I am very much alike to you.Always behind. I am trying to be more consistent with my planting to ensure a more regular harvest then I currently have.
Hi Caroline
I'm afraid your garden beds are looking more healthy than mine - I have not been in my garden for months - even my roses are unpruned!
Had a pretty easy weekend. Bri had her boyfriend stay over Saturday and Sunday night so I was busy feeding them most of the weekend.
I must get out in the garden soon as we are going away overseas for all of October so it'll need doing before then.
Cheers - Joolz
Ha Ha!! I would rather an overseas holiday then get my garden in order. We are going on holiday in November though. Have you had any experience with housesitters as we are thinking of getting one instead of bothering friends & family??
I wouldn't even dare show you my veggie garden as it is so full of weeds. I am hoping to get to it this week!!
The weekend just flew by again for me.....life is flying by too fast at the moment!!

I'm so glad about Emerald Caroline. It takes some nutting out doesn't it? Let's hope all the information falls into your lap and you have some good ideas. Hope it all continues to go well.
Nice garden and taking advantage of the rain.
We've had a terrible heatwave here for weeks, with 80 percent humidity. I didn't even know that was possible in the midwest of America.
Sweet blog you have. Following and will be back soon to learn about your corner of the world! :-)
Blessings & Hugs,
