OOPSY WANTS A HOLIDAY

Introducing the lovely & one and only "Oopsy" bear. Oh and the blue bear is the awfully grumpy, "Grumpy" bear.

My darling son Lane won me both these bears way back before Christmas. In one of my rare weak, trying to earn brownie points with son who was sick of girl shopping moment. I let him play one of those crazy games that eat your money real fast. You know the ones you put $2 in and before you know it a neon light is shouting at you "GAME OVER"

Well let me tell you they didn't have an inkling of what they were up against letting Lane in charge of that crazy claw. He not only won once but did it again and won all in the same game.

Now folks by then I was feeling real proud & cocky. Why of course Lane's siblings can have a turn. Quick run and get more gold coins we have this blasted claw beat.
Say's Mum thinking she is now Wonder Woman with Superhero kids.

Alas we didn't win anymore but to cut a long story short. Ever since the bears have arrived home they have been wanting to go on a holiday. You see they soon discovered the world was bigger than their perspex box. So here is where I need to enlist the help of my blogging buddies.

If you would like Oopsy to visit you (Grumpy is staying home) so she can see the world (yes international bloggers please apply) Oh and all the lurkers I know your out there. Please leave me a comment & if you get the draw Oopsy will be at your home before you know it. Then you must of course be a good host and show Oopsy around your place/town or maybe just your kitchen she loves to cook, taking lots of photos of course. Post these on your blog and then you & Oopsy bear get to chose from your commenter's who she will holiday with next. The only rules are that you must send her on (NO kidnapping) and show her holiday pictures on your blog with a link to me. Easy Peasy

Hopefully she will get to see & great many countries & places before returning to tell me stories of far away places.

OUR HOME TOWN

I am so glad we have members tickets & our own table in the marquee so we didn't have
to fight our way through the crowds pictured below!!

On Friday we ventured out to Roma for the Roma Cup Races. We love getting out to Roma the kids have a fantastic time catching up with the kids they grew up with. (My kids were all born out there - country kids through & through)
We had a very long roundabout trip out there as we had to pick Casey up from the Army Base in Brisbane, then struggled through Brisbane's Friday afternoon peak hour traffic. We didn't end up getting there till after 10pm. It was fantastic that Casey had leave & was able to join us he joked with us that if he couldn't he was going to go AWOL(Absent without Leave) There was so much traffic all the way to Roma lots of young people going out there for the w/e. It was such a worry as they were all overtaking us hanging out of car windows & drinking. It's a nightmare waiting to happen thank goodness we didn't come across one further up the road wrapped around a tree. I worry about the young drivers so much, alot of them are also very inexperienced at driving on country roads at night.

We had a marquee table in the guest area at the races which was very nice as we had all drinks & food supplied as well as access to our own Bookmakers, Bar, T.V's & the most important cleaner toilets without line-ups.LOL!!

We had a wonderful table of about 14 people all us friends ranging from the young, those that think we are young and should no better, right up to Pop whose near 80. Everyone had a fantastic time. Two of my fave friends reached the semi-finals of the Fashions of the fields which was good fun as they had only entered as it was a "Pink Ribbon Fundraiser" for Breast Cancer.

A really great week end was had by everbody, being able to catch up with everyone was fantastic we can't wait to do it all again soon, come christmas.

Hope your weekend was special too!!

BUNYA MOUNTAINS

Bunya Mountains is a great place to escape for a week end or day picnic. It is approx 110km from Toowoomba, or about 60km from Dalby or Kingaroy. We like to get up there a couple of times a year. It is so very peaceful no shops or big money costing attractions just nature, bush walking, lovely rainforest's and the bird life is exceptional. The King Parrots come out of the rainforest's several times a day where the visitors are able to feed them, you used to be able to feed them anytime but there has now been guidelines set for the health of the birds.2 of the many birds that watched us hopefully! while we picnickedWhat a view!!!

WESTERN PLAINS ZOO

In June we went to Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo. I have wanted to take the kids there for about the last 8 years & finally we got there alas without Case. We had a fantastic day and i can thoroughly recommend it to anyone young or old. The animals seem so content as they are not caged it also means you can view them better. You can either walk, hire bikes or a buggy or drive your own car around the zoo.

For any of you who have watched Meerkat Manor on T.V you will be surprised when you see them in the flesh as they are so much smaller then they look on the telly everybody at the exhibit was voicing the same.

My absolute favourite are the giraffes, I've always liked them since I was a kid and had I not worked with horses giraffes would have been the next best thing. When they canter they look so graceful and slow however they are really travelling about 50-60KPH. Emerald and Lane fed the giraffes(Check out the tongues Looong as)It was only about $3 to feed the giraffes the carrots a lot cheaper than some other places we have been to where it costs a fortune to feed the animals.

Life's a Beach

Casey & Emerald + Casey & Lane

Spring is sprung and summer will soon be here. The weather has been so lovely in our neck of the woods.

One of our favourite summer pastimes(like most Aussies) is going to the beach.See the gorgeous photo of Emerald,Lane-Austin & Chloe the Jack Russell. However this year will be a bit different for us with Casey not being here.
After a long swim and a play on the beach we like to wander along the beachfront, ice cream dripping in hand. Then as the sun begins to set we sit in the park overlooking the ocean eating our traditional "Fish & Chips".We all arrive home tired and contented, salty and sandy where the kids begin the mad dash for first in the shower.
Last year Grandad gave us 2 kayak's, so this added another avenue of fun for our beach days. Of course kids being kids they picked it up straight away. Paddling off into the sea with Mum on the shore yelling instructions not to go to far, watch for jet skis etc. etc. Alas I think the wind must of been blowing the wrong way as they didn't seem to hear. Now maybe this year I'll tell them about the sharks.
